Corey L. Barksdale
My art centers around motion and dance, people celebrating Mardi Gras, festivals, life in Atlanta and how important music is in our lives. Corey Barksdale has been painting for fifteen years. A prolific artist, his subject matter ranges from realism to abstracts, concentrating his talents on capturing the essence of the African American community. Admirers often sight rhythm, movement and texture as favorite elements of his work. Born in Nashville in 1974, Corey pursued his art education at the Atlanta College of Art and Georgia State University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1994. He won the Student Juried Exhibition for the Atlanta College of Art and was recently selected to represent the Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts. Corey would like to continue his work educating young artists, and is a member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Young Leaders Council.
