Lanny Barnard
Lanny Barnard's style is highly sensitive to the natural mood and tone of her subject. The flower is her favorite theme which she portrays with great impressionistic strokes. In her sunny studio, with its high ceilings and lush green carpet, Lanny "happily adventures in the fascinating world of art." Her works range in media from pattern and oils to chalk and acrylics. "I want to try everything!" she says and has tried such off-beat approaches to expressing her creativity as housepaint, stains and toasting art work in the kitchen oven. When asked what she would attribute her artistic interest and much of her success to, Lanny always credits her mother. "Mother had a sense of color coordination that was awesome. Her finely attuned perspective would allow her to take a common item and use it in a way that would make it seem like a treasure. She was a perfectionist who always took time to point out to each of us (her daughters) an unusual shape or color combination." Lanny's studies included time well-spent at the Art Students League of New York and the University of Utah. She has been painting for over 25 years. Her work has reached international popularity, and can be found in many private collections, including Bendels Gallery in New York, the Woodstock Art Center in Connecticut, the private collection of Laguna Beach Galleries, and the Salt Lake Art Center.
