Joanna Reed Caldwell (JOANNA)
Down a dusty road and through a cedar hollow you will usually find Joanna Reed Caldwell painting in her country studio. Signed simply "Joanna", her work is known for its whimsical appeal. Painting since childhood, Joanna began a formal education in fine art but ultimately chose her own style to pursue. "My work is very personal. I wanted to create a style of my own. I use warm glowing colors and universal subjects to make an impact on one's emotions. I believe the purpose of my work is to make people smile. I do not want people to try to figure out or understand my work. I simply want it to be enjoyed. I strive to add a touch of cheer and humor to our everyday hectic lifestyle. Working with imaginative interior designers and selected galleries she has placed her painted furniture and paintings in richly appointed homes across the country. Her recent acrylic paintings feature charming French and Italian waiters, often posed in front of a bistro. All of her work, from her whimsical furniture to the merry waiters have a fun, fanciful and often dreamy feeling. Joanna's work is not generally categorized using traditional art terminology. "I've created my own category I call Soulfulism. If I can touch a soul, evoke a smile, or even a chuckle, then I feel that I have accomplished something."
