Florencia Coll

Florencia Coll was born in the picturesque seaside town of Stiges on the Mediterranean coast of Spain where she lives today. She studied art history at the University of Barcelona and continued her studies at the University of Fine Arts San Jordi and the School of Applied Arts Llotja, both in Barcelona. A gifted storyteller, she relies on her paintbrush rather then a pen to create her tales. Her subjects are women involved in their daily lives and rituals. She develops their character against richly colored settings, using body language and details as subtle as a raised eyebrow to paint their stories. The observer is drawn into the situation and left to ponder what occured before the characters entered the scence and what is about to develop. Her paintings reflect an admiration of the essential woman and her emotions, perceptions, hopes and dreams.
