Salvador Dali
Dali studied art at the San Fernando Institute of Fine Arts in Madrid in the early and mid 1920’s. He became well known for his Surrealist work and was most prolific between 1929 and 1936. His work studied the subconscious and rejected the rational world, often focusing on the topics of religion and politics in his paintings. In addition to being a painter, Dali was also an illustrator, filmmaker, author, etcher and a designer of jewelry, furniture, clothes, fabrics and china. Dali’s work is part of the permanent collection of many museums around the world in addition to the Dali Museum in Figueras, Catalonia, Spain, where he is buried. Though he has been called mad, eccentric, and outrageous he is considered a master of Modern Art.
