Emma Davis
Born in Chichester, West Sussex, in 1971 Emma Davis studied at the John Moores University in Liverpool and Wolverhampton University. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Fine Art, Davis became a full time artist in 1994, moving to Oxford in 1995. Teaching degree courses on the side, her vibrant, energetic flower paintings have been exhibited nationwide in galleries stretching from Merseyside to Cornwall. In many pieces Davis incorporates text into her final images, which can be interpreted as memories of previous conversations, and act as part of her thought process as the paintings evolve. In her playful, gestural and vibrant art works, color and texture are the dominant themes. By scratching away layers of paint, Davis reveals the colors and textures underneath, adding a sense of history and time to each piece. Davis' art has been applied to a tremendous variety of products ranging from posters, stationery and cards to clothing, mugs and wallpaper designs.
