John Drysdale
British photographer John Drysdale began taking animal pictures during his boyhood in Africa, in remote jungles of the Zaire-Uganda border, where his father conducted safaris and where he became familiar with virtually every kind of African wildlife. Invited to study in England at the Guildford College of Art, he soon became a successful London photographer, working with Norman Parkinson at Vogue Studios and with Cecil Beaton at Buckingham Palace. Though immersed in London's most sophisticated society, Drysdale never relinquished his eye for varied forms of life especially for wild and domestic animals, and for children.
