Emma Dunbar
Born in England in 1961, Emma Dunbar trained at West Surrey College of Art and Design and graduated in 1984 with a BA in Fine Art Printing. Since then she has had continuous success, exhibiting in highly respected galleries throughout the UK. Emma works mainly on board in acrylic, occasionally incorporating collage with gold and silver leaf. Her training as a printmaker is evident in both her use of blocks of flat color and the way she scratches through surfaces to reveal pre-laid colors underneath. Emma's love of vivid color and the decorative qualities in everyday things are also revealed in her work. Her subjects are often drawn through affectionate observations of people on parade; at Henley Regatta or wandering through giant plants at Kew Gardens, London. Other forms of inspiration for Emma's work include her travels to India, Thailand and Turkey and her favorite artists which include Mary Feddon, Milton Avery and Daphne McClure.
