“I often use found and handmade papers in my work. They represent bits and pieces of my life, which is a kind of collage in itself. When I use them in conjunction with my paintings, I tell myself to let them spontaneously tell me where they want to be placed and what story of my life they want to express. Then it is simply up to me to interpret what is presented, and make it successful with the addition of imagery which completes it. Every year I travel to a different place to paint – London, Amsterdam, Greece, Paris, Provence and Tahiti are a few favorites, and wonderful places to collect tickets, stamps, unusual wrappers, currency, wine labels, or maybe just a scrap of a poster adhered to a wall. Each snippet stimulates my creativity and eventually becomes the basis for a new painting.”
