Deborah K. Ellis
Deborah K. Ellis' primary source of inspiration is the natural world around her. " I love plants and flowers not only because of their colors, patterns, shapes and textures, but because of the way they seem to be constantly changing." She believes that painting natural objects has taught her to view the world differently and to notice things she might not have otherwise seen. This vision is reflected in her unique watercolors depicting vegetables, fruits and flowers. Rather than painting exactly what she sees, Deborah prefers to let her response to her surroundings guide her paintbrush. Prior to working full-time as a watercolorist, Deborah had a successful architectural rendering practice in New York City. She uses her strong background in design to frame the basic elements of a painting before she lets the painting grow and change. Her pieces have been featured in group and solo exhibitions and are well represented in both private and corporate collections.
