Melanie Epps

Upon leaving Maidstone College of Art in the UK in 1985, with a degree in Fine Art, Melanie Epps pursued a career in printmaking for several years before turning to painting. Her interest in the Pre-Renaissance period is evident in the flattened perspective and rubbed back, muted colors she uses which are reminiscent of Italian frescoes. Building up her landscapes from quick, on the spot sketches, Melanie then embellishes them with images from her memory and imagination. Born in London, Melanie has exhibited widely in the capital and the rest of Britain, and has shown her work in Tokyo in 1996. A mother of two, she now lives in Middlesex, England.
