Elliott Erwitt
Elliott Erwitt was born in 1928, in Paris to Russian immigrant parents. Moving to New York in 1948, he studied film at the New School for Social Research. Centering his work primarily on the observation of people, Erwitt's pictures capture life's most poignant ironies without effort, a gift that has won him the respect of other photographers, critics and the devotion of fans. A member of Magnum since the 1950s, Erwitt has had many one-man exhibitions at such museums as the Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art and the Chicago Art Institute.
