Shirley Felts
Shirley Felts' watercolors are images of shimmering floral and fruit still lifes. Her rich palette lends itself to the luster of fruits and to spectacular arrays of delicate flowers in ornamental vases or garden settings. Shirley is also a talented landscape artist, attributing her initial love of sweeping landscapes to a "longing for the open Texas space" which she left behind when she first moved to England. Shirley Felts was born in West Virginia, and graduated from the University of Texas in 1956 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She then studied graphic art at San Francisco Institute of Fine Art. Upon graduation she stayed in San Francisco and pursued a career as a book illustrator, painter and graphic artist. Shirley has had numerous one-woman and mixed exhibitions in England and America. She has shown paintings at the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy in London and regularly exhibits with the Royal Watercolour Society at the Bankside Gallery in London. She is a frequent exhibitor at Alex Gerrard Fine Art and at the Anna-Mei Chadwick Gallery in London.
