Sally Caldwell Fisher
Sally Caldwell Fisher portrays in her images a world brimming with charm and simplicity. Attracted to the whimsical, she illustrates everyday life in rural America with humor and grace. Inspiration for her images comes from her surroundings, often a favorite locale or fond recollection. Fisher's sometimes irreverent sense of humor and zest for humanness is the hallmark of her work. Each of the images she paints is a process of discovery, and in every one there is the evocation of a story. Born and raised in the Midwest, Fisher attributes much of her humor to the special camaraderie she shared with her four brothers and sisters. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1972, she moved to coastal New England where she discovered her favorite painting subjects. Over the past ten years Fisher has gained recognition in the United States for her scenes of coastal life. Her work hangs in prominent public, private and museum collections across the country, most notably The White House and the Smithsonian Institute.
