James Fullarton
James Fullarton was born in Glasgow and studied at the Glasgow School of Art where he graduated in 1969. Since then he has been painting full-time and is currently based in Ayrshire, on the west coast of Scotland. James enjoys painting 'en plein-air' and follows the Scottish tradition of using strong color and creating powerful images. He works directly from the subject matter which allows him to develop his ideas as he works on the canvas. Drawing inspiration from the ever-changing light and its effects on everyday objects, James paints still-life and portraits as well as his much-renowned harbor and landscape pieces. His work is sold through a number of galleries across Scotland and in London and is exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Institute of the Fine Arts.
