Folk Art

Folk Art: The art of peasant society both past and present characterized by naïve subject matter and a vivacious style, folk art both perpetuates very ancient decorative traditions and draws selectively from art forms of sophisticated cultural traditions, eg the adaption of 18th Century rococo motifs on European Folk Art. Paintings, sculpture, ceramics, metalwork, costume, needlework, implements and tools may all be folk art. Top selling artists include Jane Wooster Scott's The Quilts of Cape Cod, Warren Kimble's, Colonial Flag, Gregory Alexander's African Procession, Michel Delacroix's Le Chateau de Montresor.
