Charles Giraud

Charles Giraud first studied draftsmanship and painting under his older brother Eugene, then at the Paris Fine Arts School. As a draftsman for the Navy, two important travels influenced his life: one to Tahiti, between 1846 and 1847, the other, a scientific expedition to the Arctic Pole.
