Alan Hill
For Alan Hill, the essence of his art occurs in the process. Relying upon chaos and chance to provide many options, experimentation is encouraged. Keeping the situation flexible, making adjustments in response to the developing work, allowing the piece to pull together by its own energy, without rules or limits. As one of the founding partners of the former Mandala, Inc., a Philadelphia design studio specializing in corporate communications, Hill served as a graphic designer and art director from 1971 to 1989. He is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art (University of the Arts), class of 1959; majored in illustration and studied under Henry C. Pitz, Albert Gold, Jacob Landau, Larry Day, and Jane Piper.
