Maria Jones
Maria Reyes Jones' work can be found in public and private collections throughout the United States and Europe. She sells and shows her work primarily through outdoor art festivals, which she enjoys because of the personal interaction between artist and viewer and because it allows her to indulge in her love of travel. Maria works on several bodies of work at the same time. "Scenes from the Road" are works inspired by the many road trips she takes now and as a child growing up in a military family. On a more humorous note are the paintings from the "Dog and Cat Series". These were inspired by her love of animals, especially her own two dogs, Bella and Igor. The Palm trees of her home state were the inspiration for a group of paintings based on the many moods of her favorite tree. And then there is the body of work simply called "Other", that is of an even more personal nature. These paintings involve a layering of surface and image to create a complex and often ambiguous meaning, she says "they have a little bit of mystery in them, questions unanswered, leaving space for the viewer to enter, and respond from their own life experience." Maria holds a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from Florida State University. Her studio is located in Orlando, Florida.
