David Kim
As the grandson of an art professor at a local university, David Kim, born in 1961 in Korea, held a talent within himself that was not discovered until he was in middle school. An art teacher recognized his exceptional talent and recommended further training. At that time he began experimenting with pastels and watercolors. After furthering his art studies, David graduated from Pusan Art High School and in 1983, received a degree in Art and later became an art instructor for the Art Institute in Korea, where he worked for three years. Kim began traveling abroad in 1988 and spent time in France for study and development in his sketches and paintings. Kim fell in love with the country and resided in Paris and the province of South France for a time. These journeys are clear in his work, which reflects a love of the Mediterranean region with it's red roofed homes and white stucco hillside villas. Many of his great works are views looking down to the beaches and water, with boats resting gently at the shoreline. Kim's works are on public display in government offices in Korea as well as private collections all over the United States and Europe.
