Michael L. Kungl
By the age of four, using the family sofa as his canvas and his mother's lipstick as his paint, Michael Kungl knew he wanted to be an artist. Eighteen years later, Kungl graduated from the Spokane Falls College of Art and returned to his home in Southern California. With a graphic arts education in advertising, Kungl began practicing his trade at Cochrane Chase Livingston. Soon, Kungl turned from his pens and brushes to the computer and opened his own freelance design, illustration and art direction firm, creating logo and package design, illustration, advertising, 3D animation and multimedia CD games. With his career taking off, Kungl found himself attracted to original 1930s posters, especially that of the Normandie by A.M. Cassandre. Unable to afford the original, but wanting something similar, Kungl began creating Art Deco and Modern influenced posters. Today, Kungl works in his high tech studio creating vintage posters with a modern flair that is uniquely his own.
