Paul Landry
Raised on the sea on the coast of Canada, Landry was never far from his camera and sketchpad. By the time he was seventeen, he was apprenticed as a photoengraver and starting working his way through college at the Nova Scotia College of Art. He also attended the Art Students League in New York City. Shortly afterward he took a leave of absence to paint that which he knew most in life, the sea and the people who make their living from it. Landry finally settled in Connecticut where he taught for many years at Westport’s Famous Artist School. He still lives near the shore, his greatest inspiration. Landry's art is filled with romantic images of flower filled seaside gardens and shorelines, bright and airy and filled with lush colors. He has a loyal and growing audience captured by the celebration of the spirit of life and the memories of halcyon days.
