Jacob Lawrence

Jacob Lawrence was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1917. In the 30's he and his family moved to New York City's Harlem neighborhood. His career spans more than sixty years and more than 1,000 artworks. His paintings, drawings, prints, and murals depict life in America, particularly the lives, struggles, and aspirations of African Americans.
