Jim Monahan

Jim Monahan was born in 1967 and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He began art lessons very early and began oil painting at age ten. After graduating from the University of Oregon and studying at The Academy of Art College in San Francisco, he began working as a freelance illustrator and artist. Working with several advertising agencies in Oregon, he began to refine his style and earn a reputation as a versatile and talented illustrator. In the beginning, Jim began doing paintings for friends and family. Now, his paintings can be seen in public and private collections across the United States. His appreciation of the unique personality of each pigment and versatile brushwork give Jim’s paintings luminescence and depth that are achieved by the delicate play between opaque and transparent layers of colors. Jim currently lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon with his wife and daughter.
