Heather Niblo
Combining her two favorite things, sailing and photography, Heather Niblo, from Newport Beach, California has made a career of nautical photography. Her work consists of shooting assignments for a variety of marine clients and selling stock photos. Although she always had enjoyed taking pictures, Heather did not begin to study the fine art of photography until she enrolled in a course while a student at Newport Harbor High School. She spent many years in the darkroom there and photographing a variety of subjects. She went on to obtain a BS degree in Photojournalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Heather eventually became a project coordinator, working in the editorial, advertising and production departments at Sail magazine in Boston. Six months after moving back to Southern California, and editor at Sail gave Heather her first assignment; to write about and photograph the 1988 MORC Championships. A year later she began shooting and writing full time for various magazines and marine clients. In the last ten years, Heather has emassed nearly 10,000 marketable images ranging from America's Cup to sabot racing, PHRF, Olympic classes, classic wooden boats, cruising, power yachts, fishing and pond boats. Her work has been on the cover of many publications as well as in ads, brochures, magazines, boat show displays, greeting cards and wall decor.
