Lonnie Ollivierre
Lonnie Ollivierre as born on St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a small island country in the Caribbean, where he lived with his father and two sisters. He inherited his love of art from his father, a sign painter who painted houses for a living. At a very young age Ollivierre moved to Brooklyn to live with his mother. He dreamt of becoming a cartoonist, but a television program on Norman Rockwell compelled the artist to pursue painting as a career. Discouraged by others who assured him he could never make a living as an artist, Ollivierre continued, eschewing art school and teaching himself to paint with oil and acrylic. He taught himself to draw from the comic books he collected. “I paint what I see in everyday life,†says Ollivierre, “my family and life are my inspiration. I want to change the way you look at art.†Ollivierre resides in Atlanta, GA, with his wife and two daughters.
