Op Art
Op Art is a movement that developed in the 1960’s. Artists such as Victor Vasarely (Movement in Squares) created works designed to full the eye. Using some color, but primarily a black and white palette, intricate patterns seam to move and vibrate. The art movement became quite popular and had a cross over influence on design and the decorative arts. M.C. Escher's sophisticated compositions and detailed patterns (Sky and Water) (High and Low) look forward to the movement decades before formal style began.
