Merri Pattinian
Merri Pattinian has been more involved in exploring new techniques of working rather than any particular subject. Combining non-traditional materials with her abstract style of painting, her media is the message. Feeling "more is better" she has directed her energy into developing a method of working that incorporates her desire to combine the unique textures, special relationships, movement and feeling. She works in a five-step process based on creation and destruction: "In destroying my work, I bring it to a new level of creativity."Merri works spontaneously; coming from a stream of consciousness, creating collage material that is then ripped apart and used in her final painting and constructions. Incorporating other found objects (glass, shingles, fabric, etc.) she creates an image that flows from her subconscious and permits itself to be seen. Merri's paintings have been widely accepted. They are ideal in both residential and corporate environments. She produces many custom commissions working directly with both designers and clients. Her achievements include several one-person shows and inclusion in many group exhibits. She has been published in the First Compendium of Women in Design and has been reviewed by the L.A. Times. Her work can also be found in numerous private and corporate collections.
