Norman Rockwell

Born in NYC in 1894, Rockwell is a well known American painter and illustrator. He studied at the Art Students League and did illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post. He painted everyday events with humor and nostalgia, often is such detail that they resemble photographs. President Ford awarded him the Medal of Freedom in 1977, the nation's highest peacetime award. Rockwell died on November 8, 1978 in Stockbridge, Massachusettes and his work continues to be celebrated today.
