Terry Rose
Terry Rose began his art career in Chicago, Illinois. Before long, his designs and illustrations appeared in books, magazines and record albums, winning awards from the Art Directors Club of Chicago and other Graphic Societies.Inspired by a ski vacation in Aspen, Colorado, he designed "The Great Downhill Ski Game" and other games and puzzles and eventually moved to Aspen where he saw an opportunuty for growth, both personal and artistic. At the Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, Colorado, Terry found printmaking to be a natural medium. He developed an expressionist style by drawing directly on plates and printing multi-colored images, both abstract and figurative. His work enjoyed high visibility in Aspen and in the 80's, when the World Cup Downhill Races were held in Aspen, he was commissioned by Subaru and the Aspen Skiing Company to create a poster. It was a great succes and led to several commissions for the World Cup Races and other sports events such as the Coors International Bicycle Races. In 1984, for the World Cup, Terry was asked to create a limited edition lithograph to commemorate the event. Working with a master printer at the Anderson Ranch, he created a six color lithograph of a downhill racer in a tuck position, printed on black Arches paper.Terry now lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island.
