Waltraud Schwarzbek
Born in Bavaria to an artistic family, Waltraud Schwarzbek graduated from the National Academy in Munich. She developed her technique in the traditions of realism and expressionism. Her career began a prime illustrator for Columbia Pictures, United Artists and Warner Bros. She created a series of oil paintings in support of the Wild Life Fund. Best known for her floral paintings, Schwarzbek has been published in the 1997 North Light's Book "The Best of Flower Paintings". The Bradford Exchange has featured her work on a series of limited edition porcelain plates. Currently she has been preoccupied with the palette knife technique. This impasto technique, favored by Van Gogh and others gives texture and movement to the canvas. Waltraud's work has been exhibited in numerous shows in Europe and the U.S. She is a member of the Allied Artists of America, American Artists Professional League, American Society of Portrait Artists, Knickerbocker Artists USA, and Oil Painters of America. The artist works from two studios one in Kansas and the other in Austria
