Jack Terry
Jack Terry has become one of the foremost painters of classic Western American art. Collectors throughout the United States and abroad are swiftly recognizing him as one of the outstanding painters in the nation. A fourth-generation Texan, and a graduate of the University of Texas, he credits much of his inspiration to his grandfather, a rancher, who “cowboyed” on some of the last great cattle drives of the West and his grandmother, who painted the landscapes and people of West Texas. His roots are deeply planted in the ways of the West and he continually seeks inspiration from the people and places that carry on the tradition. The paintings of Jack Terry reflect a versatility found among few artists. His paintings are a breath of fresh air which encompass subject matter, use of color, and grace of light, all of which evoke emotion in each encounter. Jack and his wife, Mary, travel extensively throughout the year in search of inspiration and new ideas. They currently reside on their ranch near Kerrville, Texas where they raise cattle and exotic deer. There, in the Texas “Hill Country”, Jack spends much of his time painting.
