Bob Travers
Robert "Bob" Travers received his formal education at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated in 1975, earning a BFA in drawing, painting and art education. Bob set his sights towards the field of commercial illustration. Signing with an agent in 1983, Bob's career sky-rocketed. Taking on local and national accounts, his work could now be seen among the pages of TV Guide, and Field and Stream Magazine. In 1988 he left behind a successful career as a commercial artist in New York to pursue his passion for painting wildlife. In his first juried wildlife exhibit, sponsored by the Ruffed Grouse Society, he swept the show, winning six major awards including the People's Choice Award and Best in Show, securing for Bob the title of Artist of the Year. A second exhibition also generated a favorable response from the judges, earning him several awards and the local recognition of gallery owners, collectors and the general public. His transition to the world of fine art was complete. Bob Travers has the ability to capture the essence of the animal and to give life to the canvas. When you see one of his paintings you also see dignity, courage and the spirit of the wilderness captured for eternity. Bob can be found in his studio daily, bringing together his past experiences and setting new goals for what is already an established career as a wildlife artist.
