Euan Uglow
The London-born painter Euan Uglow is one of Britain's most distinguished contemporary painters. Born in 1932, Uglow attended Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts where he earned a state scholarship for the Slade School of Fine Art in London. In a career spanning almost four decades, Uglow has traveled the world painting and teaching. Between 1990 and 1995 he was the Artist Trustee at the National Gallery in London. Widely associated with pictures of the nude, the human head and the still life, Uglow is famed for tenacious quality of his observation and the meticulousness of his technique. Each of his paintings takes months, often years to complete and each is the outcome of an exacting, almost scientific analysis of form, color, light and spatial relationships. Uglow's work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries at home and abroad. He continues to work form his studio in London while teaching part-time at the Slade School of Fine Art.
