Suzan Riggsbee White
My earliest memories are drawing related says Suzan Riggsbee White "I drew or painted on anything and everything. At age eight I presented a surprise nine-foot high mural of The Three Bears to my parents. I had painted it on their bedroom wall with red enamel paint. The landlord was my first negative critic." Raised in Westchester, New York, Suzan now lives in South Hero, Vermont, a village in a remote northern corner of the state. Suzan studied studio art at Wellesley College and completed graduate work at the Vermont Studio Center. Here she focused on painting and soon began to show her work in local shows and galleries. Suzan's work presents itself as "an idea that will not be ignored." She layers quick-drying paint on heavy canvas to create decorative pieces that are suitable for wall or floor. Currently, White's images include maps which coincide with flora and fauna encountered in nature "Often I am inspired while taking long walks in the woods or along the lake to see animals, plants and woodland scenery."
