Larry Whittaker

Raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Larry Whittaker spent much of his boyhood bedridden with illness. To while away the time, he drew. His parents wanted him to become an "Engineer", and for a time he studied toward that end. Then, just before he reached college, he veered off the more well-traveled road and decided to become an artist, attending various art schools. AmericanIt’s the creative challenge that intrigues Whittaker; the magical way in which a theme comes alive on the canvas. Whittaker feels that his works communicate the fun side of life, "The part where we accept our own warts and foibles and laugh merrily at ourselves."Whittaker attended the Art Students League of N.Y.C., New York University, and the Newark School of Fine Arts. His work has been exhibited at many outdoor art school shows, and he’s had solo exhibitions in Chicago and Miami. Whittaker’s lively works have also won several awards.
