Claire Winteringham

Claire Winteringham was born in Solihull and studied textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University. After graduating with a first class honors degree, Winteringham returned to Birmingham where she pursued a successful career as a freelance painter and textile designer while working on a host of projects, including soft furnishings and knitwear for boutiques in New York. Throughout this time she also maintained part time lecturing posts at Manchester Polytechnic, Birmingham Polytechnic and Solihull College of Technology. Since moving to Lancashire in 1984, Winteringham has focused much more on painting. She has received great acclaim for her distinctive, clear watercolors of flowers and landscapes which are always drawn from life and often inspired by travels abroad to India, Thailand, Burma, Australia, Indonesia and Europe.
