John Zaccheo
Born in 1942, John Zaccheo primarily paints Mediterranean ports and seascapes where he spends a great part of his life. Constructed out of layers and geometric shapes, his Mediterranean townscapes are curtailed by water as reflective as a mirror. His colors so smoothly interconnected seem to be but a single movement. Painting with passion, Zaccheo uses a palette knife to create such scenes shrouded with mystery, bathed with lavenders and blues, shellacked with alluring shadows. His works have been referred to as more lush and picturesque than nature's own. It's as though he is the omnipotent director, manipulating colors and forms to improvise of each other, to enunciate natural harmony. Zaccheo, who simply sees with his soul, has an amazing ability to convey a convincing yet enhancing look at life's beauty. His paintings, rich in texture, capture a sense of light that magnifies forms, metamorphoses their appearance. His works, full of luster and ardor, are the result of superb and dazzling craftsmanship. His technique is to merely open a creative vein and to unleash preserved memories onto canvas. After travelling to thirty-six different countries, to places as exotic as the South Sea Islands or more remote as the upper Amazon River, the well-traveled impressionist perpetuates his experiences, priceless like a treasure chest full of inspirations, to share via Impasto Art. Few will ever experience the world as Zaccheo has, unless they step into his paintings, and make believe.
